Abdur Razzak Bio:

Abdur Razzak was born 23 January 1942. Razzak was born in Kolkata, British India. At an early age he lost both of his parents. He acted more than 300 films (Bengali and Urdu). He also directed around sixteen movies. At his teenager, he used to participate in theatre productions in Kolkata. While studying at a college in Kolkata, he for the first time appeared in the movie “Ratan Lal Bangali”. With the plan to be a film star, Razzak went to learn film study in Filmalaya in Mumbai, India in 1961. Returning from Mumbai, he performed in two movies in Kolkata “Pankotilak” and “Shilalipi”. However, the Hindu-Muslim riot broke out in 1964 forced Razzak and his family to transfer to Dhaka.

Though Razzak had the target to rule the East Pakistani movie industry, after the relocation, he found the pathway was not so simple for him. Initially, however, he started acting in TV plays. He got break through in his acting in Pakistan TV series Ghoroa. But, he was not derailed from his dream of becoming a ‘film star’. Abdul Jabbar Khan (who is a filmmaker in Bangladesh) created an opportunity for Razzak to his dream come true. Khan helped Razzak to join Iqbal Films Limited as an assistant to the director Kamal Ahmed in the movie Ujala. Razzak’s first break in big screen given by Zahir Raihan in Behula in 1966. He also acted in other movies like “Neel Akasher Nichey”, “Maynamati”, “Moner Moto Bou”, “Swaralipi”, “Osru Diye Likha, “Jibon Theke Neya”, “Obujh Mon” etc. Razzak married Rajlokhhi and the couple have three sons – Bapparaz, Bappi, Samrat and one daughter – Moina.
